Bahrain is spending nearly BD197 million annually on direct cash support programmes aimed at helping families manage rising living costs and maintain financial stability.

According to a memorandum submitted by the Ministry of Social Development to Parliament, the funding is spread across several key schemes. The largest share BD128 million is allocated to costof-living support, followed by BD21.5 million for social security and BD18.3 million for disability allowances.

An additional BD29.4 million compensates citizens after the removal of meat subsidies, along with assistance for emergency situations such as housing fires.

The programmes target some of the Kingdom’s most vulnerable groups, including widows, divorced and abandoned women, families of prisoners, orphans, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
