US News Anchor Pleads for Return of Missing Mother
US news anchor Savannah Guthrie has shared a tearful video pleading for the return of her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, who authorities believe was abducted from her Arizona home over the weekend. Flanked by her siblings, Guthrie asked the captors to make contact and provide proof that the 84-year-old is still alive, citing concerns about deepfake manipulation.
Police are working with the FBI to verify a possible ransom note, though no suspects have been identified. Guthrie said her mother is in fragile health and urgently needs medication. After the video was posted, President Donald Trump said he had directed all federal law enforcement to assist in the search.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen Saturday night at her home in Catalina Foothills near Tucson. An extensive search involving local and federal authorities is ongoing.
