Israel Breaks Up Hamas Network in West Bank, Arrests 60
Israel’s security agency, Shin Bet, announced on Sunday that it had dismantled a major Hamas network in the West Bank city of Hebron. According to the agency, 60 Hamas members were arrested during a large-scale operation.
Shin Bet described the network as “significant, complex, and large-scale,” and said it had uncovered 10 militant cells that were planning to carry out attacks in the near future.
The group’s leaders were reportedly working to recruit, arm, and train new members to launch shootings and bombings against Israeli targets.
The operation, carried out over three months with help from the Israeli military and police, was described as the largest of its kind in the West Bank in the past ten years.
Terrorism charges are being filed against those arrested. Hamas has not yet responded to the report.
