Indian airport treat Gulf expats poorly
A celebrated Indian musician has lambasted officials at an Indian airport for the bad treatment meted out at Gulf expats and also mistreating him.
M Jayachandran, who mainly works in south Indian movies, has described his experience at the Calicut International Airport (CCJ) last Thursday as “nightmarish”.
His Facebook post describing the incident has already gone viral.
He mentioned that many passengers, especially Gulf expats, have gone through similar hostile experiences in the past at the airport.
Talking to DT News on the incident, Mr Jayachandran said he has lodged a complaint to the airport manager and airport director, adding that he is yet to receive any response from the officials.
Mr Jayachandran was apparently verbally abused and threatened by an airport official when he questioined him for helping a few passengers break the queue and process their papers ahead of other passengers waiting before them.
“I don’t expect that there will be any result to my complaint because I understand there is a nexus of officials in the airport,” he told DT News.
However the two officials were very friendly to him, Mr Jayachandran added.
“They listened to my complaint and the airport manager even gave me a glass of water as I was gasping for breath as emotion overwhelmed me seeing the injustice meted out to the ordinary passengers at the airport,” he said.
“If there’s no consequence to my complaint I will contact MPs and ministers.
“I cannot tolerate the injustice meted out to the poor Gulf expats at this airport.
“I have seen this intolerant attitude of the officials at the Calicut International Airport only.
“I haven’t seen this attitude at the Cochin International Airport (also in the south Indian state of Kerala) which is mainly used by affluent people.
“It seems the officials at the Calicut airport does not like passengers who react at an injustice.
“What happened to me should not happen again to another human being.
“That’s why I lodged a complaint to the officials.”
Jayachandran was on his way to release CD of Muslim songs at Calicut on the day when the unfortunate incident happened.
“The officials approach to the passengers is as if all of them are thieves,” he continued.
“Seeing an injustice I can’t simply stand and stare. I will speak out for justice.”
