ABU DHABI: The Dubai Court of First Instance has ordered a local food importing company to pay $390,503.47 (approximately Dh1.43 million) to an overseas supplier for unpaid shipments of frozen chicken.

The court also mandated that the defendant pay a 5 percent annual legal interest rate starting on February 26, 2026, along with legal representation fees and court expenses.

The overseas supplier filed the lawsuit after the importer failed to settle the outstanding balance despite repeated demands for payment. To solidify its case, the claimant presented comprehensive commercial invoices, shipping documents, sales order confirmations, and correspondence.

The defendant failed to challenge the authenticity of these records or provide proof of payment. Consequently, the court ruled the debt valid and enforceable under the UAE Law of Evidence, concluding that the importer remained entirely liable for the unpaid food products.
