The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry has created a dedicated new position within its Board of Directors to strengthen direct communication with its members. Under its 31st session, chaired by Mr. Nabil Khalid Kanoo, the Board established the role of “Board Representative for Member Affairs and Complaints”, appointing Mr. Abdulwahab Yousuf Al-Hawaj and Mr. Rashad Ibrahim Zeinal to fill the position.
Speaking on the occasion, Board Member and newly appointed Representative Mr. Rashad Zeinal said the move reflects the Board’s commitment to staying closely connected with the realities of the private sector.
“Complaints and observations from business owners are an important source for understanding the needs of economic sectors,” he said. “We do not treat them as isolated individual cases — we treat them as indicators that help us identify shared issues and areas that require attention and action.”
From Feedback to Policy
Zeinal stressed that the real value of this initiative goes beyond handling complaints. Recurring issues raised by business owners will be converted into working files, concrete initiatives, and policy recommendations aimed at improving legislation, procedures, and the overall business environment.
To complement this approach, the Chamber has simultaneously established a dedicated SME Support Department, tasked with following up on issues submitted by business owners, studying them, and coordinating with relevant government bodies — with dedicated contact points to accelerate resolution.
Rooted in Reality
Zeinal emphasised that the Board’s initiatives and recommendations during this session will be driven by the actual needs of economic sectors, not top-down directives. The Representatives will review periodic reports, follow up on outstanding matters, and submit recommendations directly to the Board.
He concluded by affirming that the Bahrain Chamber will continue developing its institutional tools to better anticipate private sector needs — turning challenges into practical recommendations that support Bahrain’s economic competitiveness and development journey.
