KYIV:Russian drone attacks killed one civilian and wounded 24 others in cities across Ukraine on Monday, according to local authorities. The fatal strike occurred in the southern city of Kherson, while another eight people were wounded in the northern town of Chernigiv, where the assault successfully severed power to 10,000 residents.
The intensifying long-range aerial strikes come as formal peace negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow remain completely stalled.
The Ukrainian air force stated that Russian forces launched a total of 265 combat drones during the overnight barrage, with air defense units intercepting and downing 228 of the unmanned aerial vehicles.
Beyond the casualties in Kherson and Chernigiv, the remaining strikes wounded seven people in the Black Sea port city of Odesa, four individuals in central Kharkiv, and one person in Zaporizhzhia.
Moscow continues to launch attacks almost nightly, while Ukraine has ramped up retaliatory operations targeting Russian energy infrastructure.
