Khartoum: At least 67 people, including children and women, were killed in two separate drone attacks in Sudan's Kordofan region, according to a rights group and a local leader.

In West Kordofan, a drone strike on the village of Kadam killed 10 people, including eight children and two women, the Emergency Lawyers group said. The victims were displaced civilians who had fled the Abu Kershola area in South Kordofan seeking safety before being struck at their shelter site.

The group said the attack hit a civilian area where there were no military operations and described it as a sign of violence spreading to displacement sites. It did not identify who carried out the strike.

In North Kordofan, 57 people were killed in a drone attack on the village of Al-Murra on Friday, according to a local tribal leader. The source blamed the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for the attack. The village lies in an area contested by the RSF and the Sudanese army.

The UN's International Organization for Migration said 160 people were displaced from Al-Murra earlier in the week because of worsening insecurity.

Drone attacks have increased in recent months as both sides in Sudan's conflict expand their use of the weapons. Last month, UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher said around 700 civilians were killed in drone strikes during the first three months of the year alone.

Now in its fourth year, the war between the Sudanese army and the RSF has killed an estimated 200,000 people and displaced more than 11 million, while pushing several parts of the country into hunger and famine.
