Age groups confirmed for Asian Youth Games in Bahrain
Organisers of the Asian Youth Games have confirmed the age categories for each sport at this year’s event in Bahrain.
The technical committee announced that competitions will be aligned with Olympic Council of Asia regulations, ensuring athletes between 14 and 18 compete on a level field.
More than 5,000 young athletes are expected to take part across 24 sports from 22–31 October. As well as medals, the Games will offer a pathway towards qualification for the 2026 Youth Olympics in Dakar, Senegal, with standards set by the relevant international federations.
Officials say the Bahrain event will also act as a springboard for developing talent ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
