GPIC gets top CSR award

The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) announced winning the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Corporate Social Responsibility Award for excellence in delivering innovative programmes in community service and sustainability. The award by the Business Ethics Centre was presented by Chamber Chairman Majid Saif Al Ghurair, heads of companies, institutions and businessmen, to GPIC President Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery during a ceremony in Dubai.

This year, 33 organisations received the award. Al Ghurair said the number of companies and institutions winning the award is increasing, “which reveals the high priority given by the private sector to corporate social responsibility strategies that are an essential part of the development plans”. “I feel a lot of happiness when I see the growing international interest in general and of the Arab community in general.

I hope the GPIC’s leading role in the field of social responsibility will inspire other companies and institutions to take more initiatives to reach out to their communities,” Dr Jawahery said accepting the award. Dr Jawahery congratulated GPIC’s Chairman and Board of Directors, along with the Executive Management, for their efforts to achieve objectives related to social issues.

The Business Ethics Center, launched in 2004, specialises in promoting the concept of corporate social responsibility. The centre has so far awarded 359 companies in the areas of the workplace, market, environment and the local community.
