Dubai-based airline adds Chișinău, Iași, Riga, and Vilnius to its growing network
DUBAI — flydubai, the Dubai-based carrier, has announced the launch of flights to four new European destinations, marking a significant expansion of its international network. Starting in September 2025, the airline will begin services to Chișinău in Moldova and Iași in Romania, followed by Riga in Latvia and Vilnius in Lithuania from December 2025.
This expansion brings flydubai’s European footprint to 35 destinations across 20 countries, further solidifying its position as a key player in connecting underserved markets to Dubai and beyond.
Historic Firsts for the UAE Carrier
The latest announcement is particularly notable as flydubai becomes the first UAE carrier to offer direct flights between Dubai and Iași International Airport (IAS) in Romania. flydubai has been operating in Romania since 2012 with flights to Bucharest and now extends its reach within the country.
The airline is also entering new territory with its debut into the Baltic region. With the launch of direct services to Riga International Airport (RIX) in Latvia and Vilnius International Airport (VNO) in Lithuania, flydubai opens new gateways for both tourism and trade between the UAE and Northern Europe.
Commitment to Underserved Markets
Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, highlighted the strategic intent behind the new routes:
“The expansion of our network reflects our unwavering commitment to opening up underserved markets and stimulating free flows of trade and tourism. With our new services to Eastern Europe and the Baltic region, we look forward to strengthening the UAE’s trade and cultural links and supporting Dubai’s position as an international aviation hub.”
Currently, 75% of flydubai’s destinations are underserved routes, with the airline’s network exceeding 135 global locations.
Enhancing Connectivity Across Europe
Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, emphasized Europe’s growing importance in the airline’s strategy:
“Europe remains an important market for flydubai, and we are excited to grow our network with the addition of Chișinău, Iași, Riga, and Vilnius. These new gateways will enable more passengers to enjoy a seamless travel experience to Dubai and further beyond through our network and Emirates codeshare partnership.”
Destination Highlights
Chișinău, Moldova: Nestled along the Bîc River, this charming capital is one of Europe’s greenest cities, known for its limestone buildings and scenic parks.
