His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed the importance of promoting peace, security and stability in the region and combatting terrorism yesterday. The challenges facing the region call for deeper cooperation and continuous consultation, His Majesty told El-Sisi, highlighting the importance of the upcoming summit in Saudi Arabia with US President Joe Biden. HM King met the Egyptian President in Sharm El Sheikh in the Red Sea.

The summit will bring together Gulf Cooperation Council leaders, Jordan’s King Abdullah, El-Sisi and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi and Joe Biden, who is on his first trip to the Gulf region as the US President. Biden is travelling to Saudi at the invitation of Saudi King Salman along with eight additional heads of state for the GCC+3 summit, a spokesperson for the National Security Council had said. On Friday, Joe Biden said he would see the Saudi crown prince as part of a broader “international meeting” on the 16th of next month.

HM King was invited to the summit by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud. HM King and Al-Sisi also discussed the latest situation in the region, Arab, international events and developments and exchanged views on them. Egypt, HM King said, plays a pivotal role in protecting Arab security and defending the interests of the Arab countries, it's just causes and efforts to strengthen the foundations of peace, security, and stability in the Middle East.

Following the meeting, Egyptian presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady said Sisi affirmed pride in the historical ties between both nations. Sisi added that his nation desires to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation with Bahrain, intensifying coordination towards developments in the Middle East and strengthening unity and joint Arab action in facing various regional and international challenges.

The meeting witnessed discussions on further prospects for cooperation between Egypt and Bahrain, especially in the economic and investment fields. Bassam Rady also announced signing an agreement to maximize Egyptian-Bahraini cooperation and coordination to develop the joint Arab action system, which helps protect Arab national security and enhance Arab capabilities.
