Bahrain’s UN entry a blow to Iran’s expansionist agenda

ManamaIranian attempts to spread its expansionist agenda in the region has suffered a huge blow with Bahrain gaining its entry into the UN Committee and Iran finding its way out, a top Bahraini Minister has said.

Iranian government, Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi said, might have succeeded in finding a foothold in some media and political parties in Western countries, but “will never succeed”.

In an interview with Al Arabiya news channel, the Minister pointed out that Iran has “lost its credibility” and will never succeed to “achieve its negative influence in the region and the world”.

Citing Bahrain’s success in the UN committee, Al Rumaihi said such acts highlights Iran’s inability to “achieve its negative influence in the region and the world”.

Bahrain gained its entry to the United Nations Committee on Non-Governmental Organisations along with India, Pakistan and China as a member, while Iran found its way out from the United Nations Economic and Social Council for a period of 4 years from 2019-2022.

Issuing a warning against targeting the security and stability of Arab countries in the region, the Minister, however, told the news channel that such threats will never stop “because the dispute is not with persons, but with (theocratic) ideology and concepts.”

Iran’s constitution stipulates “to export its revolution” to the region’s countries and “this necessitates full Arab solidarity to confront such menace,” the minister said.

In this regard, the minister reiterated the role of Saudi Arabia in facing all regional challenges.

“The past 48 hours have confirmed beyond any doubt the firm political will of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to strengthen joint Arab action to face challenges in the region,” Al Rumaihi told the news channel affirming that Bahrain and Saudi Arabia this vision.

Al Rumaihi stressed that the speeches of Their Majesties, Excellencies and Highnesses of the Arab countries at the 29th session of Arab League Council, hosted in Dhahran -Saudi Arabia on Sunday, confirm the Arab views on the threats facing the region.

Bahrain, Al Rumaihi said, has overcome numerous challenges during the past seven years, thanks to the exceptional vision of a leader who bet on the United internal front and won the bet despite all these challenges.

The minister called on the international community to answer the call of His Majesty the King to participate effectively on the path of a political settlement of the Arab and regional issues and crises and halt external interferences in Arab affairs.
