IGN Convention begins at Bahrain International Circuit

Manama : IGN Convention, one of the regions largest pop culture event, opened yesterday with the participation of thousands of fans.

Scores of enthusiasts flocked to the gaming and pop culture event at the Bahrain International Circuit. The event attracted Gamers, anime fans, cosplayers, and pop culture enthusiasts. International celebrities Actor Pilou Asbaek and American professional wrestler Oscar Gutierrez better known as Rey Mysterio were the star attraction of the event.

An organiser said that this year’s event is expected to register the highest attendance when compared to previous editions. The event is being organised by Tarteeb and its strategic partners and sponsors including Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), VIVA, Tamkeen, and the Bahrain Economic Development Board. “At Tarteeb, we are committed to hosting the best events and world renowned celebrities in an effort to continuously enhance the position of the Kingdom as a hub that embraces entertainment in the region,” said the Chief Executive Officer of Tarteeb, Mohamed Al Sulaiti.

“We are pleased to provide support to this event and all such major events that have the potential to attract visitors from the Kingdom and its neighbouring countries. The BTEA will further continue to develop its strategy to uplift the tourism sector under the slogan ‘Ours.Yours’ and contribute towards the Kingdoms economy and the realization of the 2030 economic vision,” said the Director of Tourism Marketing and Promotions at the BTEA, Yousif Al Khan.

The Executive Director – ICT at the Economic Development Board(EDB), John Kilmartin commented: “The EDB is keen on supporting conferences and events that attracts companies and create opportunities to the Kingdom’s private sector.”

The event features a cosplay contest and video games tournaments for games such as FIFA, Call of Duty and Overwatch. The event will also feature a host of interactive games and concerts.
