DAR AL RIFFA AL-ODA

The Dar Al-Riffa Al Oda project comprises the conservation and rehabilitation of the existing Dar in the old neighbourhood of East Riffa as well as an extension on a neighbour- ing plot, and accommodates a larger performance hall and residency spaces. The new Dar Al Riffa enhances the intangible heritage of Riffa, and the folk singing that is specific to this area of Bahrain.

Manchester by the Sea is a 2016 American drama film written and directed by Kenneth Lonergan and starring Casey Affleck, Michelle Williams, Kyle Chandler, and Lucas Hedges. The plot follows a man who looks after his teenage nephew after his brother dies.After the death of his older brother Joe, Lee Chandler is shocked that Joe has made him sole guardian of his teenage nephew Patrick. Taking leave of his job as a janitor in Boston, Lee reluctantly returns to Manchester- by-the-Sea, the fishing village where his working-class family has lived for generations. There, he is forced to deal with a past that separated him from his wife, Randi, and the community where he was born and raised.
The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 23, 2016 and was soon picked up by Amazon Studios for distribution. It began a limited release on November 18, 2016, before going wide on December 16, 2016, and grossed $72 million worldwide on an $8.5 million budget.
Manchester by the Sea received criti- cal acclaim upon its release and was regarded as among the best films of 2016.
Critics praised in particular Affleck’s performance, as well as Lonergan’s direction and screenplay. At the 89th Academy Awards, the film received six nominations (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Affleck), Best Supporting Actor (Hedges), Best Supporting Actress (Williams) and Best Original Screenplay), winning for Best Original Screenplay and Best Actor. It also won theGolden Globe Award for Best Actor and was nominated in four more categories.
