Two men get jail in drug peddling case
Manama : Two men have been slapped with prison sentences in connection with a drug case. One of them received 10 years behind bars after judges at the High Criminal Court confirmed the charge of peddling drugs against him. The second defendant was handed down one year in prison.
According to the case, the second defendant landed first in police net after the Anti-Drug Department in the Ministry of Interior received a tip-off that he was selling unlawful drugs. In a sting operation, the man was nabbed by the police.
During interrogation, he revealed to the detectives that he was buying the drugs from the other man (the first defendant). He also offered help to lure him into a sting operation in which the first defendant was arrested while trying to sell hashish to the second defendant.
The sentences against the duo included BD1,000 fine for the second defendant, and BD5,000 for the first defendant.
