Hearing begins in forming terrorist outfit case
The High Criminal Court yesterday began hearing the case of eight defendants accused of forming a terrorist group. The Bahrainis are implicated in connection with founding and joining the terrorist group named “Bahraini Hezbollah,” whose activities were inspired by Lebanese terrorist organisation Hezbollah.
They were exposed last year after carrying out several attacks across Bahrain. The defendants allegedly possessed arms, which they used against police officers. It’s said that the group’s funds had been provided by the second and seventh defendants, who were raising money by different means.
The Public Prosecution said that the defendants recorded their attacks and uploaded them online. They commenced their activities on June 23, 2014 before being arrested. The trial was adjourned yesterday to September 17 for review.
