How to change the future of Bahrain in ten years with five simple steps

The character of a person decides how he will be in future, similarly the character of a nation will decide on how the future of a nation will be.  I have listed five steps that if done from today, we will change the future of our nation in 10 years to come, our target are our assets and they are ourselves, the children and teenagers of today:

-        Train them to know their Purpose

Purpose is a very strong drive, it is also the main pillar in character, a good person has a solid character and it is the one that knows its purpose, train yourself and your children to know their purpose in life, know your WHY, why you do things, what drives you to do your homework, go to school, go to university, to work and become who you want to become in future.

School curriculums, teachers, educators and parents have to be helped to know their why/purpose and then trained on how to help the youngsters identify their purpose, a good purpose will always inspire, drive the person to excel and to keep him going.

Religion is a good tool, and we need to understand first and then explain the purpose and drive of religions, results can be powerful

-        Value comes before success

Train yourself on providing value, see that in all your actions, all your efforts, what value are you providing to yourself, children, society and nation, you get yours, train your youngsters on how to link their actions to value, success will always follows, do not worry.

Identifying pain is always a good filter for Value.Seek for pain, feel it in people talks, is it traffic, is it heat, is it finance, this will always lead you to adapt your actions to ease those pains, if tried or achieve, value will be delivered or the process will start.

We can change our curriculums, we can also change the way we talk to our youngsters, asking them about what value they are providing and how can they ease pain.

-        Leadership, we are planters not necessary harvesters

Main character of leadership is in initiation; a good leader initiates, takes the lead, sees a pain, thinks of a solution and embarks. Teach yourself and others on the importance of taking self-initiatives. Good leaders do not wait for result, sometimes the solution may take years that you might not witness, it is important to train yourself on starting, the kids of today will be the managers of tomorrow and someone someday will get the privilege of building on what you started. We are not harvesters, we are planters.

-        Fight negativity

Looking at the dark/negative part of any situation is a human tendency; it is also a skill that we adapted from childhood.  It is difficult for a brain that has been attacked by negative thought to see the positive, the nation needs positive, clear and calm brains, our infrastructure for building, solving and for bright ideas, remember, bright ideas come out of bright brains, train and protect your brain by/on positivity.

Words like ‘problem’ has to be replaced in our dictionaries by ‘challenge’, the future will be brighter with a nation that sees every roadblock as a challenge, training our children on changing their vocabulary from a very early age will make them pillars of a bright nation. Start from now, change your vocabulary.

-        Good ethics form good character

Work on ethics, go to the basics. The best gift you can give yourself and your children is good ethics.

It is a historical formula, read history and look around, when you hear of prospering nations, you automatically hear of good ethics, it can be as basic as being on time, respecting dead-line, apologizing when mistaken or delayed, calling for appointments, helping the elderly and children, taking your plate to the kitchen, making your bed, helping in the house, calling your neighbors, friend and relative to check on them, dressing up properly, being patient in traffic or in queue and the list can goes on.

To conclude, let’s take leadership in changing ourselves and our children for a challenged nation with a good character, practice good ethics, driven by a clear purpose for a good value and see how Bahrain will become in ten years from now.
