Interior minister laud police-public partnership

Manama: Marking the anniversary of Community Partnership Day on March 18, Interior Minister Lt General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa hailed the cohesion between the policemen and the public.

“Bahrainis feel a national sense of responsibility to cooperate to protect security and stability. Security is a basic foundation of life for the growth of civilised societies,” the Minister said.

“The naming of the Day for Community Partnership was blessed by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by our wise government. This is a day to acknowledge cooperation and the work done that results in the best outcome for citizens and residents. The concept of a community-police partnership celebrates daily activities that improve security, such as the cooperative fight against terrorism,” he added.

He further said that through its strategies, the Ministry is dedicated to interacting with people by meeting with them and listening to their issues and feedback.

“This is especially important in security-related matters. The Ministry is also committed to releasing newsworthy information to help the public remain safe and aware,” he added. “The most positive result of the community-police partnership is the active role between the community and the police in daily activities.”

He added that the police personnel have been appreciated by the State’s organisations, NGOs and people.

“The community-police partnership is also positively reflected in public responses in the local media and via the positive feedback at majalis (community gatherings) and public calls to support the police. The public support for policemen killed in the line of duty, and their families, is also highly appreciated by the Ministry,” the Minster said.

He asserted that the police are well prepared to deal with a variety of situations with competency and in accordance to international standards.

Meanwhile, the Governor of the Northern Governorate, Ali Ibn Al Shaikh Abdulhussain Al Asfoor, said the Community Partnership Day, which embodies the beautiful picture of solidarity among the citizens, is a shining point in Bahrain’s modern history.

He expressed gratitude to the Interior Minister and to all affiliates of the security agencies in the Kingdom, for their patriotic services.

The Governor added that the community partnership in Bahrain constitutes an outstanding model of relationship between citizens and security men through proper application of the National Action Charter and the Kingdom’s Constitution.
