Issues New Laws
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued two decree-laws amending Bahrain’s Civil Aviation Law and introducing a Railway Regulation Law, following proposals by the Prime Minister and approval by the Cabinet.
The Civil Aviation amendment will take effect following its publication in the Official Gazette, while the Railway Regulation Law will come into force the day after publication. The minister responsible for transportation affairs will issue the necessary executive regulations and decisions for the railway law within one year.
UN Council Meets
The UN Security Council held an emergency session at the request of Bahrain, France, the United Kingdom, Latvia and Greece to discuss developments in the Bab Al Mandab Strait and attacks by the Houthis on Saudi Arabia.
Speaking for Bahrain, Permanent Representative Jamal Fares Al Rowaiei condemned the escalation and repeated attacks on Saudi Arabia, while highlighting concerns over maritime security in the Bab Al Mandab and Red Sea and the humanitarian impact of the conflict in Yemen.
RHF Gains Accreditation
The Royal Humanitarian Foundation received first-level accreditation under the Trusted Standard, issued by the UK’s National Council for Voluntary Organisations, after meeting the standard’s requirements and indicators.
The accreditation recognises RHF’s commitment to international practices in humanitarian work, with the Trusted Standard covering governance, financial management, resource management, beneficiary services and impact measurement among 11 organisational areas.
Students Learn First-Aid
The National Ambulance Centre, in cooperation with Al Iman Schools, held an awareness lecture for middle and secondary school students on first aid and seeking medical assistance during emergencies.
The session covered common emergencies including burns, wounds, fractures, heat exhaustion, heatstroke, blood pressure and diabetes-related emergencies and cardiac arrest. Students also received practical CPR training and guidance on first-aid kit contents.
Bahrain Attends IAEA
A Bahrain delegation, headed by Brigadier-General Samir Ahmed Al Zayani, participated in the 70th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna.
In its statement, Bahrain reaffirmed its commitment to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and support for nuclear safety, security and peaceful uses of nuclear energy. The Kingdom also highlighted cooperation with the IAEA and its plans to study a civilian nuclear programme, including small modular reactors.
GCC Ministers Coordinate
Education Minister Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma chaired the 10th meeting of the GCC Committee of Education Ministers in Manama as part of Bahrain’s presidency of the 46th GCC session.
The meeting focused on continued educational cooperation, exchanging expertise and adapting to developments in education. Discussions also highlighted modern technology, artificial intelligence, innovation and problem-solving in education systems.
