Sixteen Asian nationals have been referred to the criminal court for allegedly forging private documents and using them to fraudulently obtain financing from a company. The Public Prosecution said the case followed a report from the Economic Crimes Directorate.
Investigations found that the defendants submitted forged documents with financing applications, leading the company to approve and pay amounts they were not entitled to receive. The prosecution examined the documents, questioned the defendants and heard the company’s representative before establishing the alleged forgery.
The defendants were ordered to remain in custody during the investigation before being referred to court. Their first hearing is scheduled for September 21, 2026.
