Bahrain Explores Cultural, Scientific Partnership

Bahrain is exploring opportunities to strengthen cultural and scientific cooperation with the Arab World Institute in Paris, as part of efforts to deepen the longstanding ties between Bahrain and France.

A high-level working meeting and luncheon were hosted by Arab World Institute President Anne-Claire Legendre during a visit by Hala Mohammed Jaber Al Ansari, Adviser to His Majesty the King of Bahrain for Cultural and Scientific Affairs. The meeting was also attended by Bahrain’s Ambassador to France, Issa bin Abdulaziz Al Jassim.

At the meeting, Al Ansari congratulated Legendre on her appointment as President of the Arab World Institute and wished her success in leading the prominent cultural institution.

She praised the institute’s role in promoting cultural and civilisational dialogue between the Arab world, France and Europe.

The discussions highlighted the longstanding and distinguished relations between Bahrain and France and the growing momentum in bilateral cooperation across various fields. Both sides stressed the importance of ensuring that cultural, intellectual and scientific cooperation keeps pace with the advanced level of bilateral relations.

The two sides also highlighted Bahrain’s position as one of the founding countries of the Arab World Institute, describing the institute as an important cultural partner and an effective platform for promoting Arab culture, highlighting its diversity and strengthening the presence of Arab creativity in France and Europe.

The meeting reviewed potential areas of cooperation during the next phase, taking into account the institute’s plans currently under development. These opportunities could help highlight Bahrain’s civilisational, historical and cultural depth, while presenting the Kingdom’s contemporary literary and artistic scene and introducing French and European audiences to the contributions of Bahraini creatives and intellectual figures.

The discussions also covered preparations by the Arab World Institute to mark the 40th anniversary of its establishment.

The anniversary is expected to provide an opportunity to highlight the institute’s role in promoting Arab culture and open new avenues for cooperation with its founding Arab countries, including Bahrain, through joint cultural and scientific initiatives reflecting the longstanding ties between the two sides.
