Al Zayed Leads Bahrain at Thailand Amateur

Ahmed Al Zayed is the best-placed of Bahrain’s three representatives after the second round of the 92nd Singha Thailand Amateur Open in Bangkok.
Al Zayed added an eight-over-par 78 to his opening 75 at Panya Indra Golf Club, taking his 36-hole total to 153 and leaving him tied for 62nd at 13 over.
Khalifa Al Kaabi, who had been the leading Bahraini after carding a first-round 73, fell into a tie for 66th following an 82. He now stands at 15 over on 155.
Mohammed Al Nuaimi is 69th after following his opening 78 with an 80 for an 18-over total of 158.
At the top of the leaderboard, South Korea’s Siwoo Park opened a four-shot advantage after adding a 66 to his first-round 64 to reach 10 under.
Thailand’s Put Nugooludompanit and Phurit Wongsawang share second place with the Philippines’ Miguel Ilas at six under.
The four-round, 72-hole championship features 135 amateur golfers from 14 countries across the men’s and women’s competitions. Play continues today before the tournament concludes tomorrow.
