Bahrain’s boxing delegation has arrived in Japan ahead of the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.

After completing a training camp in Spain, the elite fighters will now put the finishing touches on their preparations before the competition begins.

Omar Budhahei is among 29 entrants in the men’s 60kg category, while Ali Amr will compete in a 25-strong field at 70kg.

Hamsa Vogel is one of 16 boxers entered in the 80kg division, with Jorge Lobaina joining 14 other contenders at 90kg.

Maryam Khamis, the kingdom’s sole female boxer, will compete against 19 other entrants in the women’s 54kg category.

The squad is led by high-performance head coach John Conlan, alongside assistant coach and team administrator Mohammed Naseem.

Boxing events will be held at Nishio City Central Gymnasium from September 21 to October 2.

The kingdom will seek its first Asian Games boxing medal, having debuted in the sport at the previous edition in Hangzhou.
