EU Envoys Explore Bahrain’s Coexistence Efforts

Muneera Nofal Al Doseri, Executive Director of the King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance, received several European Union (EU) ambassadors accredited to Bahrain and residing in Kuwait during an introductory visit to the Center.

The visit aimed to brief the ambassadors on the Center’s programmes, initiatives and efforts to promote coexistence, tolerance and dialogue in cooperation with friendly countries and regional and international organisations.

The delegation included Amir Muharemi, Ambassador of Croatia; Christian Dooms, Ambassador of Belgium; Ioannis Plotas, Ambassador of Greece; Manuel Hernández Gamallo, Ambassador of Spain; Ulrich Frank, Ambassador of Austria; Michał Jan Gulia, Ambassador of Poland; and Laurens Westhoff, Ambassador of the Netherlands.

During the meeting, the Center presented an overview of its main areas of work, initiatives, and academic and training programmes at the local and international levels. The presentation also covered the Center’s efforts to promote coexistence and tolerance through educational, cultural and media platforms.

The ambassadors were also briefed on the King Hamad Award for Coexistence and Tolerance, including its humanitarian and civilisational significance and international objectives.

Al Doseri reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and partnership with the EU in promoting a culture of peace, tolerance and coexistence. She also highlighted the importance of continued joint efforts to organise international conferences focused on safeguarding freedom of religion or belief and advancing coexistence.

The ambassadors expressed appreciation for Bahrain’s efforts to promote dialogue and understanding among civilisations and cultures. They also commended the Center’s role in advancing shared human values at the regional and international levels and affirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation and coordination in areas of mutual interest.
