Health Minister urges need for quality medical services
Manama: Minister of Health Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh yesterday stressed on the need to provide quality medical services to rare disease patients.
She was speaking during a ceremony organised by Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) Department of Paediatrics to mark the World Rare Diseases Day themed “We Hear Your Voice.” Senior Ministry officials, patients and their relatives also attended the event.
The Minister praised the efforts of medical and nursing crew in the department, including the metabolic diseases team, for their preparations and good organisation of the programme. The event aims to spread public awareness regarding rare diseases and its impact on patients’ lifestyle.
Al Saleh called on all those concerned with caring for rare disease patients, including physicians and nurses, to continue their efforts in the provision of best healthcare and medical services to patients. She said it would alleviate their suffering and help them lead a normal everyday life.
The Minister also inaugurated a health exhibition for rare diseases held by various SMC departments. She was briefed on the efforts to provide healthcare for rare disease patients and the accomplishments in this aspect.
The paediatrics and metabolic diseases team at SMC honoured the Minister for her unlimited support to the department.
The Health Ministry began its rare diseases public awareness campaign last February under the motto “We Hear Your Voice” and hosted a series of events and activities on this occasion.
