GCC, Jordan Envoys Meet Top US Republicans Amid Regional Tensions
Ambassadors from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and Jordan met Congressman Brian Mast, Chairman of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, along with senior Republican members, under Bahrain's current GCC presidency.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Bahrain's Ambassador to the U.S., led the GCC side. He stressed the need to deepen the GCC-U.S. strategic dialogue to reinforce regional stability amid growing volatility.
Security concerns
Talks centered on the fast-changing security situation in the Middle East. Officials discussed protecting maritime shipping lanes, preserving freedom of navigation, and containing the fallout of regional tensions on the global economy.
Participants described U.S.-GCC-Jordan ties as a decades-old strategic partnership. They agreed to expand cooperation to support peace and development.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah said all sides share a commitment to dialogue as the main tool for resolving crises, calling for closer coordination on today's cross-border challenges.
