GCC Rejects Houthi Claims

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi strongly rejected and condemned statements made by the Houthi group’s military spokesperson against Saudi Arabia, describing the allegations as baseless and an attempt to distort facts.

Albudaiwi said the claims were part of a “failed and exposed attempt” to evade responsibility for the group’s actions, which he said have worsened the suffering of the Yemeni people and threatened regional security and stability.

He stressed that such “irresponsible statements” would not alter the established facts, including Saudi Arabia’s continued efforts to support the Yemeni people, promote security and stability, advance political solutions, and provide humanitarian and relief assistance.

The GCC chief also condemned the Houthis’ continued threats to maritime navigation, emphasising that the security of sea routes and freedom of international trade are fundamental pillars of regional and global stability.

He said any attempts to target international waterways represent a clear violation of international law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

He reaffirmed the GCC’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its security, sovereignty, and national interests.
