New Dual-Lane Turn Improves Flow by 40%
The Ministry of Works completed an expansion of the turning point connecting Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway with Janabiya Road to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.
The upgrade is part of a wider plan to improve major road junctions across Bahrain by adding extra lanes where needed to handle increasing traffic.
According to the Ministry of Works Undersecretary, Engineer Shaikh Mishaal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the project focused on widening the right-turn lane from Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway towards Janabiya Road, heading north to Salman City.
The work included adding a second lane to the turn, relocating utility services, installing a rainwater drainage system, and carrying out road surfacing. New safety features such as barriers and road signs were also added.
The project is expected to improve traffic movement by up to 40%, making travel smoother for motorists using the route.
Haji Hassan Company implemented the project, which the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development funded.
