Bahrain Welcomes G7-EU Support for Regional Security

The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed its welcome for the joint statement issued by the Group of Seven (G7) countries and the European Commission, which reaffirmed their support for the security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of partner states in the region. The statement strongly condemned Iran and its proxies for unjustified attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, including energy facilities, in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, Jordan, and Iraq, while affirming the right of nations to defend their territories and protect their citizens in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the G7 statement, which includes the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Canada, and Japan, for pledging to safeguard energy supplies amid escalating maritime threats in the Strait of Hormuz. The group also reaffirmed their readiness to take necessary measures to ensure global energy market stability, highlighting the critical importance of secure commercial passage through the strategic waterway.

The Ministry also noted the G7’s renewed insistence that Iran does not possess nuclear weapons, its call for Iran to halt its ballistic missile program, and its demand that Iran end destabilizing activities both regionally and globally.
