Bahraini Rights Groups Call on UN Human Rights Council to Condemn Attacks
Several Bahraini human rights associations have called on the United Nations Human Rights Council to take clear steps to condemn what they described as hostile Iranian attacks against the Kingdom of Bahrain, GCC countries, and other Arab states. They also urged stronger international measures to protect civilians in the Gulf region and to enhance accountability for these alleged violations.
Representing the Bahraini rights groups, Ms. Dalal Al-Mashari delivered an oral statement before the UN Human Rights Council during its 61st session in Geneva, under Item Four of the agenda, which addresses human rights situations requiring the Council’s attention.
The statement was issued on behalf of several organizations, including the Bahrain Society for Human Rights, the Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society, the Mabadee Society for Human Rights, the Al-Marsad Human Rights Society, and the Together for Human Rights Society. The groups highlighted the impact of recent attacks targeting GCC countries, including Bahrain.
Al-Mashari stated that Bahrain had been subjected to more than 102 missile attacks and 171 drone attacks, according to the statement. She said the attacks targeted multiple civilian locations, including residential buildings in Manama, Juffair, Muharraq, and Sitra, as well as critical infrastructure such as Bahrain International Airport, facilities near Khalifa Bin Salman Port, water desalination plants, educational institutions, and hotels.
The groups emphasized the need for international action to ensure civilian protection and to reinforce global accountability mechanisms in response to such incidents.
