STEPHEN LOMAN LOOKS TO ALEX EALA’S FEARLESS RISE FOR INSPIRATION AHEAD OF BRAVE CF 108

Stephen “The Sniper” Loman is taking cues from an athlete who is rewriting history in Philippine sports.

As he prepares for his long-awaited return in the co-main event of BRAVE CF 108 on Saturday, September 5, the former BRAVE CF Bantamweight World Champion is drawing inspiration from tennis sensation Alex Eala, whose breakthrough on the international stage has given Filipinos another reason to dream big.

Eala has become one of the Philippines’ most celebrated athletes after breaking new ground throughout her rapid ascent. She became the first Filipino to enter the WTA Top 100 in 2025 before climbing into the Top 20, highlighted by her historic singles triumph at the Mubadala D.C. Open this past August 

Her journey has included victories over Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula, further establishing her reputation as one of the sport’s most promising talents.

For Loman, however, Eala’s appeal extends beyond the records and milestones. 

“It is inspiring to see Alex making history for the Philippines,” Loman said. “She has accomplished things that we have never seen before in Filipino tennis, and it is great to see our country gaining recognition on the world stage.”

A natural southpaw himself, Loman is particularly drawn to the fearless attitude of fellow left-hander Eala whenever she steps onto the court.

“What stands out to me is her courage,” he stated. “Tennis is very different from MMA, but when you watch Alex compete, you can see that fighter’s mentality. She does not back down, and she continues to fight regardless of the situation.”

That same resolve will be essential when Loman returns to the action at the historic Pula Arena in Croatia this weekend.

“The Sniper” faces No. 1-ranked contender Lasha Abramishvili in a three-round clash, with a potential path toward the vacant BRAVE CF Bantamweight World Championship awaiting the winner.

Abramishvili presents a formidable challenge. The Georgian has won eight straight bouts since 2023, including six victories by stoppage.

Loman, meanwhile, has not competed for three years.

Yet the extended absence has done little to diminish his ambition, with Eala’s success reminding him that even the toughest obstacles can be overcome. 

“Alex has faced some of the best players in the world, and she has shown that you cannot be afraid of the challenge,” Loman mentioned.

“That is the mentality I will bring into this fight. I know what is ahead of me, but I believe I can find a way to win.”
