Cycling Stars Honoured for Historic Asian Medal

A Bahraini cyclist has made history by winning the country's first-ever Asian medal in track cycling.

Muhammad Hassan Jowad claimed bronze in the 3km individual pursuit at the Asian Track Cup 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, delivering a landmark moment for Bahraini sport.

The Bahrain Cycling Federation celebrated the achievement by hosting an awards ceremony for the national youth team in Zallaq. The ceremony was held under the patronage of Federation President Shaikh Dr Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and supported by the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

Jowad was joined on the honours list by teammate Hassan Aqeel Thamer, who was recognised for his strong performances and contribution throughout the competition.

Speaking at the ceremony, Shaikh Dr Khalid praised the young riders and credited their success to the federation's training programmes both at home and abroad.

"We are proud of this promising generation," he said, wishing the team continued success and further achievements on the international stage.

The historic bronze marks a new chapter for cycling in Bahrain and raises expectations for the sport's future in the Kingdom.
