President Trump Highlights Strikes, Strait of Hormuz Security Efforts
U.S. President Donald Trump addressed developments related to Iran during remarks made while hosting a meeting with members of the Trump-Kennedy Center Board at the White House, outlining his administration’s position on negotiations, regional security, and ongoing military operations.
Trump stated that Iran has expressed interest in reaching a deal and claimed that discussions are taking place between Iranian representatives and U.S. officials. However, he criticized Tehran’s communications, describing Iran as a country that relies on misinformation. He further alleged that recent online content circulating from Iran included fabricated claims created using artificial intelligence, referencing examples he said falsely depicted military events that never occurred.
Separately, Trump referred to reports concerning Iranian political figure Mojtaba Khamenei, noting that there has been public speculation about his health. He said various rumors have circulated regarding his condition, while acknowledging that there has been no confirmed public statement addressing these claims.
Military Operations and Strait of Hormuz
Trump described ongoing military actions as significant, stating that it was a “big day” for operations targeting a specific area connected to the Strait of Hormuz. He said additional international partners were joining efforts related to the region, emphasizing the need for broader cooperation to ensure security in the strategic waterway.
“We strongly encourage other nations whose economies depend on the strait… to come and help us,” he said, adding that international participation is important for monitoring and stabilizing the area.
When asked about discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron regarding a coalition to reopen or secure the Strait of Hormuz, Trump confirmed that he had spoken with him. He described the cooperation as constructive, while noting differences in approach.
Claims on Operational Impact
The administration reported that since the launch of a military campaign referred to as “Operation Epic Fury,” forces have struck approximately 7,000 targets. According to the statements, there has been a significant reduction in ballistic missile launches and drone attacks, along with reports of more than 100 Iranian naval vessels being damaged or destroyed.
Trump also claimed that operations targeted Kharg Island, stating that infrastructure was heavily damaged while key oil facilities were reportedly preserved. He said the approach was intended to avoid permanent damage that could hinder potential future reconstruction.
Economic Impact and Oil Prices
Trump suggested that global oil prices would decrease rapidly once the situation stabilizes, stating that improved security in the region would have positive economic effects.
Defense and Military Strength
Concluding his remarks, Trump emphasized U.S. military capabilities, stating that the United States remains the strongest nation in the world with the most powerful armed forces.
“We don’t need anybody. We’re the strongest nation in the world,” he said.
