Over 240,000 Students in Bahrain Continue Studies Online

Dr. Intisar Al-Banna, Director of Educational Operations at the Ministry of Education Bahrain, announced that the ministry has implemented precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students and staff at educational institutions amid ongoing regional tensions.

She stated that the decision was taken to shift learning in both public and private schools to remote education through digital platforms starting March 1 and continuing until further notice.

More than 150,000 students enrolled in public schools have been attending classes online since the first day of implementation, following the approved academic timetables. The ministry is also monitoring private schools to ensure the activation of their digital learning platforms, allowing more than 90,000 students to continue their studies.

According to Dr. Al-Banna, direct communication between students and teachers remains ongoing through these platforms, with regular monitoring of lesson schedules and student engagement levels.

For higher education institutions, the Higher Education Council Bahrain is overseeing the transition of universities to remote learning through their respective digital systems. The move ensures that more than 50,000 university students can continue their academic programmes without disruption.

The ministry also confirmed that public services will continue to be delivered electronically through its official website and the national portal bahrain.bh. In-person visits remain available through an appointment booking system when necessary.

The ministry reiterated its commitment to maintaining educational continuity while prioritising the safety and wellbeing of students, educators, and administrative staff.
