Bahrain Launches New Traffic Monitoring System with Smart Cameras

Manama: Bahrain has launched a new traffic monitoring system, activating smart cameras across the country to crack down on traffic violations. Launched on December 1, these cameras will automatically detect and record infractions, with around 300 more expected to be installed in the first quarter of 2026.

The General Directorate of Traffic is also introducing a traffic points system, where points will be recorded for each violation by a driver. Exceeding the maximum point limit may result in license revocation. Civilian security patrols will support the cameras, monitoring roads to ensure compliance with traffic laws.

This initiative aims to enhance traffic safety and reduce violating behaviours, aligning with Bahrain's Vision 2030 to adopt smart technologies and transform public services.
