Bahrain Parliament Delegation Highlights AI Safety at Amman Forum

A Bahraini parliamentary delegation reaffirmed the Kingdom’s steadfast commitment to strengthening national legislation and enhancing regional and international cooperation to counter the misuse of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in acts of terrorism and violence.

The delegation underscored that these efforts stem from the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, whose guidance continues to champion global peace, tolerance, and cooperation among nations.

The statement came as the Bahraini delegation—comprising MP Hanan Mohammed Ferdan, MP Mohsen Ali Al Asbool, and a number of legal and technical experts from the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives—participated in the Parliamentary Seminar on Legislative and Political Measures to Prevent and Counter the Use of AI and Emerging Technologies for Terrorism and Violent Extremism. The two-day forum, held from November 4–5 in Amman, Jordan, was organized by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM).

The delegation praised the leadership and continuous support of H.E. Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division. His efforts have been instrumental in empowering the division to play a vital role on the global parliamentary stage, particularly in shaping modern legislation and enhancing national capacities in oversight and lawmaking related to AI and digital technologies.

The seminar explored ways to strengthen legal and political frameworks that prevent the exploitation of new technologies for extremist agendas. It also focused on empowering parliaments to keep pace with rapid technological advancements while upholding human rights, safeguarding societies, and ensuring responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence.

Through active engagement in such international forums, Bahrain continues to reinforce its global image as a nation dedicated to innovation, peace, and responsible governance in the digital age.
