Bahrain’s growing financial leadership took the spotlight in Washington as His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, led the Kingdom’s representation at the Bahrain Association of Banks’ Annual Bahraini Banks Reception, held on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Annual Meetings.

The high-profile reception, attended by His Excellency Khalid Humaidan, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, and senior figures from regional and international financial institutions, underscored Bahrain’s deepening engagement with the global financial community.

Unified effort

Bahrain Association of Banks (BAB) Chairman Yaser Alsharifi expressed appreciation for the participation of the Finance Minister and the CBB Governor, noting that their presence reinforced Bahrain’s position as a bridge between regional and international finance. He said the event provided an important platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange among banking leaders and their global counterparts.

Alsharifi added that the reception reflected BAB’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Bahrain’s global footprint, expand opportunities for collaboration, and cultivate strategic partnerships with international financial institutions.

Innovation focus

BAB Chief Executive Officer Zeeba Askar said the reception showcased Bahrain’s pioneering experience in building an advanced and forward-looking banking environment. She noted that the event highlighted innovation, digital-transformation initiatives, and the investment opportunities that position Bahrain as a dynamic hub connecting GCC and regional markets.

Askar also extended gratitude to all sponsors and partners for supporting the event’s success and for their role in promoting Bahrain’s distinguished image in the international financial arena.

Organised by the Bahrain Association of Banks (BAB), the event attracted policymakers, central bank governors, and executives from leading international financial organisations. It was sponsored under the platinum tier by National Bank of Bahrain, Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, Al Salam Bank, and Kuwait Finance House, with gold sponsorship from Bank ABC, Gulf International Bank, and GFH Financial Group. Gulf Air served as the exclusive airline partner.

The reception served to reaffirm Bahrain’s reputation as a trusted and adaptable financial centre that continues to align with global economic transformations while reflecting the government’s commitment to fostering an agile, innovation-driven economy.
