HM King Hamad Reviews Parliament’s Annual Achievements
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, received the annual report of the Shura and National Assembly Councils for the Third Ordinary Session of the Sixth Legislative Term.
The reception took place at Al-Safriya Palace, where His Majesty was joined by His Excellency Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and His Excellency Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, Speaker of the Shura Council, along with the deputy speakers of both councils, who presented the report to the King.
During the meeting, His Majesty praised the legislative authority for its significant achievements over the past three sessions of the current legislative term, highlighting its continued contribution to Bahrain’s development, legislative oversight, and sustainable progress. His Majesty expressed hope for further accomplishments in the next phase of this ongoing national journey.
The King also commended the councils’ report for including constructive ideas to enhance legislative and oversight performance, stressing the importance of continued collaboration between the legislative and executive authorities to achieve national prosperity and welfare for all citizens.
His Majesty expressed pride in Bahrain’s national achievements across various fields, praising the dedication of the Kingdom’s citizens in contributing to the nation’s progress and reinforcing its leading position and international reputation. He emphasized that Bahrain will remain a united homeland for all its people and a beacon of tolerance, coexistence, and cultural openness.
In response, the speakers of both councils expressed their gratitude to His Majesty, recognizing that the councils’ accomplishments are the result of the King’s wise guidance and continued support, and reaffirmed their commitment to serving the nation and its citizens.
During the reception, Dr. Fawzia Yusuf Abdullah Al-Jaib, Advisor to the Speaker of the Shura Council, presented a book to His Majesty titled “Bahrain’s Success Story: IPU 146”. The book documents Bahrain’s achievements in hosting the 146th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in 2023, reflecting the Kingdom’s comprehensive development and high international recognition under the vision of His Majesty and the guidance of the Government led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The Shura Council’s annual report for the Third Ordinary Session of the Sixth Legislative Term includes an introduction, a message from the council’s speaker, statistics on achievements during the session, details of committee work, legislative discussions, budget reviews, responses to ministerial queries, and public statements issued in response to local, regional, and international developments. The report also highlights parliamentary diplomacy through visits and receptions of local, Gulf, Arab, and international delegations, membership in executive parliamentary committees, and participation in regional and international conferences.
Similarly, the National Assembly Council’s report details its accomplishments, session activities, committee work, parliamentary participation, initiatives by the Secretariat, community outreach programs, and efforts to enhance parliamentary culture. Notably, the Secretariat of the National Assembly achieved ISO certification for Environmental Management Systems, making it the first parliamentary institution in the Middle East and Asia to receive such recognition, setting a model for sustainability and reinforcing Bahrain’s leadership in environmental standards.
