The Second Minor Criminal Court has opened hearings in the case of a foreign woman accused of practicing medicine without a license and possessing unregistered medical drugs.
During yesterday’s session, the defendant denied the charges.
The court adjourned proceedings to September 29 to allow her defense.
According to case details, the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) reported the woman after she promoted herself on social media as a dermatologist and cosmetic specialist, offering unlicensed medical services from her apartment.
Sting operation
In coordination with the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Evidence, authorities conducted a sting operation, catching the suspect in the act of injecting clients with Botox in exchange for money.
She was using unauthorized medicines imported from outside Bahrain. A quantity of unlicensed drugs was also seized.
The Public Prosecution stated that the defendant had initially admitted to the charges during questioning.
She was remanded in custody pending trial, while the confiscated items were secured as evidence.
Violations
Police investigations confirmed the violations, leading to her referral to court.
A senior prosecutor underscored the importance of adhering to strict medical regulations aimed at safeguarding patients, warning that unlicensed practices pose serious risks to public health.
He urged full compliance with the guidelines set by the NHRA.
