Education Ministry Launches Orientation Program for First Graders

The Ministry of Education has circulated a special orientation guide for government schools to help prepare first-grade students for the 2025–2026 academic year.

The program includes a variety of activities covering psychological, health, educational, and sports aspects, aiming to ease students’ transition into school life from the very first day. It seeks to create a positive and motivating environment that helps children adapt smoothly to their new academic journey.

According to the guide, the orientation plan is designed to make the move into elementary education easier by offering psychological and social support, instilling national values, and strengthening communication between home and school. The program also introduces students to classroom settings through hands-on activities that reduce anxiety and encourage adjustment to school routines.

The initiative focuses on building students’ confidence, discipline, and healthy habits from the early stages. It also includes a communication plan with parents to ensure they remain active partners in supporting their children’s learning.

The ministry has instructed schools to form a dedicated orientation team, which will include the school principal, vice-principal, social counselor, first-grade teachers, physical education and art teachers, classroom coordinators, health counselors, and supporting staff.

The program will be implemented at the start of the new school year and will consist of daily activities to familiarize students with their classrooms, help them make new friends, and encourage participation and commitment.

The guide also directed schools to provide dedicated restrooms for first graders, divide activities into two sessions (before and after the first break), and train students on a safe dismissal process.

Some of the key activities in the program include:

  • Classroom Rules: Introducing basic guidelines to students.

  • Who Can Help Me?: Teaching students about school rules and available social guidance.

  • My Journey in Technology: Introducing the smart board and safe internet use.

  • Safe Dismissal: Training students on safe and orderly departure from school.
