ABU DHABI: Gulf countries reported intercepting missiles and drones on Saturday as security forces across the region responded to potential aerial threats and strengthened protective measures.

In Qatar, the Qatar Ministry of Defence announced that its armed forces successfully intercepted a missile shortly after the Public Safety Alert System was activated at 5:48am on Saturday.

Authorities said precautionary measures were implemented to ensure public safety. The Qatar Ministry of Interior clarified that the previously announced temporary evacuation applied only to residents in specific areas who received alerts through the National Alert System.

Officials said safe alternative accommodation had been arranged for affected residents, while some individuals chose to relocate temporarily to safe locations of their own choice until the security situation stabilises.

Meanwhile in Kuwait, the Kuwait National Guard announced that a duty force successfully shot down a drone at one of the sites under its protection.

The National Guard stated that the action was part of ongoing efforts to enhance security, safeguard vital facilities, and respond to any potential threats. Authorities also urged the public to follow all safety instructions issued by relevant government agencies.

Officials added that the National Guard remains fully prepared and is working closely with the army, police, and the Kuwait Fire Force to respond swiftly to any threat that could undermine the country’s security and stability.

In Saudi Arabia, the official spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defence confirmed that air defence systems intercepted and destroyed drones in the Eastern Region and Al‑Jouf.

Authorities said the operations were carried out as part of ongoing defensive measures to protect the kingdom’s airspace and critical infrastructure.

Security agencies across the Gulf region continue to monitor developments closely while maintaining a high level of readiness to safeguard citizens, residents, and key national facilities.
