Kyiv: At least four people were killed and ten others injured after Russian drone and missile strikes targeted areas near Ukraine’s capital, authorities said on Saturday.
According to Ukraine’s police, Russia launched a series of attacks on the Kyiv Region overnight.
“Russian forces continue to launch strikes on the Kyiv region,” Ukraine’s police said in a post on Telegram, confirming that four people had been killed and ten wounded in the attacks.
Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the regional military administration, said earlier that a “massive attack” involving drones and missiles struck several areas around Kyiv, causing casualties and damage.
The strikes come as diplomatic efforts to end the war face new challenges. Peace talks led by the United States aimed at halting the fighting have reportedly stalled amid wider geopolitical tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which began in 2022, has become the deadliest conflict in Europe since the Second World War, displacing millions of people and causing heavy military and civilian casualties on both sides.
