BAGDAD: A drone struck the United States Embassy Baghdad on Saturday, according to an Iraqi security official, as smoke was seen rising from the diplomatic compound in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
The official confirmed that a drone had hit the embassy complex, while a second security source said the attack specifically targeted the US diplomatic mission.
The drone strike came shortly after two Iran-backed fighters were reportedly killed in separate strikes in Baghdad, according to multiple sources. The developments have heightened tensions in the region amid ongoing security concerns.
