Formula 1 Cancels April Races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula One, has confirmed that the championship will not hold races in Bahrain or Saudi Arabia in April due to the current situation in the region.
Speaking about the decision, Domenicali described it as a difficult but necessary step taken after careful consideration of the broader circumstances.
He explained that the decision was made jointly with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and the local race promoters, who fully understood the need to prioritize safety and stability.
Domenicali emphasized that while the cancellation was unfortunate, the move was taken in the best interests of the sport and everyone involved.
The F1 chief also sent a message to fans in both countries, expressing appreciation for their passion and support for the championship. He urged fans to stay safe during the current situation and assured them that Formula 1 hopes to return to the region as soon as possible.
Bahrain and Saudi Arabia have become key destinations on the Formula 1 calendar in recent years, with races held at the Bahrain International Circuit and the Jeddah Corniche Circuit drawing large crowds and strong regional support.
Domenicali concluded by thanking fans for their continued loyalty and encouraged them to keep following the championship as the season progresses.
