TEHRAN: The Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Army, Amir Hatami, has issued a stern warning that the deaths of 104 crew members aboard the IRIS Dena, one of Iran's most advanced warships, will "not go unanswered."

According to Iran’s IRNA news agency, Hatami stated that the Dena destroyer was on its way back to Iran after completing a peaceful mission. He emphasized that the sailors were attacked despite the fact that they were not involved in any active combat or direct battle at the time.

“The name of Dena and the ultimate sacrifice of its crew will forever stand as a symbol of bravery and devotion in the naval history of Iran,” Hatami declared. He further asserted that the army remains committed to defending Iran’s maritime borders and will work to bolster its naval strength with "even greater determination" following the incident.
