Bahrain Launches National Plan to Empower Women in Economy and Life (2025–2026)

The National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women (2025–2026), approved by the Supreme Council for Women under the leadership of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, aims to strengthen women’s role in the economy and society.

The plan focuses on economic participation by reviewing and developing policies, regulations, and laws to support women across various sectors. It seeks to ensure equal opportunities, sustainable participation in the workforce, and the promotion of female entrepreneurship. Special attention is given to modern and emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, digital content creation, digital transformation, space sciences, IT, fintech, telecommunications, renewable energy, and other innovative sectors, while providing legal support to balance family responsibilities with professional life.

Empowering Women Economically
The initiative emphasizes access to decent work opportunities and encourages female entrepreneurship. It addresses gaps in women’s economic participation by developing policies to enhance professional skills needed in the future labor market, promoting supportive legislation, and fostering a culture of freelancing and entrepreneurship among women.

Enhancing Quality of Life
Under the “Quality of Life” pillar, the plan includes awareness programs to improve health, environmental practices, and safety for women and their families. It promotes women’s sports, supports services for working women, and aims to balance professional and personal life.

Policy Initiatives
The plan introduces initiatives to improve women’s participation in promising economic sectors and modern fields, enhance vocational and technical education for female students, increase women’s representation in medical professions, and improve working conditions in childcare and preschool sectors. It also addresses women’s health, safety, and sports-related needs.

Budget and Funding Initiatives
The plan includes gender-responsive budgeting to support women’s education, training, and professional development. Programs are in place to monitor and evaluate financing for women, including initiatives from the banking sector. Funding also supports sports, health, housing, and social services tailored to women’s needs.

Awareness and Training Initiatives
The plan highlights women’s success stories in entrepreneurship and economic leadership. It provides specialized training programs, professional certification options, and technical skill development aligned with labor market demands. Women are also offered guidance to explore new job opportunities in sectors such as banking, tourism, hospitality, and technology.

In terms of quality of life, initiatives focus on raising awareness about health, sports, environmental practices, home gardening, and the impact of climate change. They also include guidance on green spaces, women-led agricultural projects, proper health practices, support for women with disabilities, and strategies to manage social and psychological stress effectively.

Through this comprehensive plan, Bahrain aims to create an environment where women can thrive professionally, personally, and socially, paving the way for a more inclusive and balanced society.
