Private sector workers, establishments honoured
Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan has affirmed that the honouring of Bahraini workers reflects the pride of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government in the values of work and production embodied by workers and employers through dedicated efforts, and effective participation in building and developing their nation.
The dedicated and disciplined Bahraini workforce is the real asset through which the nation can be built and prosper, the minister said as he delivered speech during the 31st ceremony to honour employees, entrepreneurs, administrators and establishments that have made outstanding efforts in various economic sectors, held under the auspices of HM the King by the Labour and Social Development Ministry marking the Kingdom’s celebrations of the National and Accession Days.
He conveyed greetings from HM King Hamad to the honourees and the audience, expressing HM the King’s pride in the Bahraini human resources.
The minister extended his sincere appreciation to HM King Hamad for his keenness on patronising the honouring ceremony annually in line with his constant support to work and work for the sake of enhancing the Kingdom’s growth, progress and prosperity during the Royal prosperous era.
Humaidan highlighted the Kingdom’s success in reducing unemployment rates to 3.1 per cent, stressing that effective initiatives will be launched in collaboration with the main partners, including BCCI, the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions and the Bahrain Free Labour Union Federation, to boost the positive atmosphere, increase cooperation among the three production parties, ensure the success of plans to rehabilitate the Bahraini workforce, increase productivity and encourage dialogue to face any potential problems.
Humaidan called for the need to step up efforts to maintain the labour market’s strength and integrity, as well as ability to generate job opportunities that appeal to Bahrainis as the best means to protect the market from the repercussions of the decline in oil prices.
Then, Fajr Ali Abdulla delivered a speech on behalf of the honourees, lauding HM the King’s patronage of the ceremony.
She also commended the Labour Ministry’s efforts in developing the work environment and increasing the salaries of the national manpower so as to improve their living standards, as well as training and rehabilitation programmes for national job seekers in order to prepare them for the labour
market.
Jameel Humaidan and Undersecretary Sabah Salim Al Dosary presented the honourees with certificates and awards.
The honouree list included four prominent entrepreneurs, 10 outstanding administrators, three administrators participating in the programme to rehabilitate and employ national job-seekers, one entrepreneur with a small enterprise, six workers with special needs, eight distinguished establishments and three outstanding establishments in the field of improving salaries of national employees.
The list also covered honourees representing the sectors of oil and gas (5), manufacturing industries (16), transportation and stores (6), banking, finance and insurance (5), contracting sector (11), trade (19), hospitality -restaurants and hotels (10)- and other social
activities (9).
Eight workers in new professions that appeal to the national manpower and six non-organised economy workers was also honoured.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, Northern Governor Ali bin Al Shaikh Abdula Hussain Al Asfoor, Deputy Capital Governor Hassan Abdulla Al Madani, representatives of workers’ trade unions, companies’ heads, CEOs and guests attended the ceremony.
