Bahrain’s Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, took a firm stance against Iranian regional policy during the 39th Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) Conference, held remotely under Saudi Arabia’s chairmanship.
Speaking on behalf of the Kingdom, Al Musallam stressed that Gulf and Arab security is a collective and indivisible responsibility. He reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment, under King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s leadership, to strengthening regional stability, upholding good neighbourliness, and rejecting foreign interference in sovereign affairs.
Al Musallam directly condemned Iran’s interference in Gulf Cooperation Council states and Jordan, warning that the deployment of proxy militias poses a serious threat to regional sovereignty. He further criticised Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz as a direct assault on international shipping and global energy security.
The Speaker concluded that the Iranian regime’s persistent policies of escalation and revolutionary exportation violate international law and the United Nations Charter, calling for unified Arab parliamentary action to counter these threats.
