A Bahraini carrying the national flag across a suspension bridge in the Himalayas became a powerful symbol of national pride during the Nepal Tourism Reception held in Manama to mark International Sagarmatha (Mount Everest) Day.
Bahraini adventurer and speaker Mohammed Isa shared the story of his family's 16-day journey through Nepal, describing the trip as an educational experience designed to broaden his son Ali’s horizons through travel and exploration.
Speaking before diplomats, tourism officials and business leaders at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Isa highlighted how the family travelled across Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Chitwan and Pokhara, experiencing Nepal’s rich culture, history and natural beauty.
One of the most memorable moments of the trip came on Bahrain’s National Day, December 16, 2025, when Ali carried Bahrain’s flag while crossing a suspension bridge along the Everest Base Camp trekking route.
“For us, it was more than a photograph,” Isa told the audience, reflecting on the significance of carrying Bahrain’s colours high in the Himalayas while celebrations took place back home.
Throughout the presentation, Isa emphasized how travel can teach children valuable life lessons such as endurance, patience and confidence. He recalled Ali completing a 13-kilometre jungle walk in Chitwan National Park and later visiting Annapurna Base Camp at an altitude of 4,130 metres.
The reception, hosted by the Embassy of Nepal in Bahrain, also highlighted Nepal’s tourism attractions, cultural heritage and strong ties with the Kingdom. Nepal’s Ambassador noted that relations between the two countries have continued to grow over the past five decades, supported by people-to-people connections and expanding cooperation in tourism and business.
